About The Artist
Creative moments drive Janie Coltrin’s art. A San Francisco native raised in St. Helena, she launched a custom toy and furniture business in college, known for one‑of‑a‑kind hand‑painted pieces. She moved the business to Hawaii, taught fine woodworking and cabinetmaking at a junior college, and became a sought‑after architectural photographer featured in publications like Hawaii Luxury Home, Jetset Magazine, and Unique Homes. She began fine art painting on Kauai 20 years ago and continues to paint. Her work is playful and whimsical, with bold, unusual palettes inspired by local vignettes. Now back in Northern California, she sketches, paints, illustrates and creates quirky whimsical compositions like miniature message mobiles and cardboard furniture that often bring a smile.
